The developers who bought Royal Gorge, now Royal Gorge LLC, are in the process of submitting plans to Placer County that will seriously change the cross country skiing experience at the Summit. Near the present Summit Lodge, they are planning on blasting two artificial lakes, and putting in lots of time-shares, condos, fractional-ownership dwellings, and houses. When a local asked them how folks would cross country ski across all the driveways and roads- Royal Gorge LLC said "rubber mats"
